Friday, December 19, 2008 at 03:40PM Social Media Do's and Don'ts for Internet Marketing
After watching Perry Belcher explain social media marketing as a BIG party and receiving several questions about it, I got inspired. This is my take on Social Media Do's and Don'ts for Internet Marketing Success.
Be sure to sound off by posting a comment below. What do you think? Am I right or missing the boat entirely?

Great video Shelly:
You nailed it! How can anayway say more than what you and Perry have detailed?

Hi Shelly,
You did a great job capturing the essence of what to do and not do when connecting with people online. I feel like those of us who have been doing this awhile, have a responsibility to share insights like these with the newer folks. That's just part of building a community of support and collaboration.
thank you Shelly!
best wishes,
Cindy
Hey Shelly,
I love the party analogy Perry used and you elaborated on, because when I think of the people I have gravitated towards in the attraction marketing world, they are people I think I would enjoy chatting with at a party for more than two minutes.
You certainly fall under that category. You are always so upbeat and bubbly, even when you are making fun of yourself. That kind of energy makes people want to spend time with you, which is vital to attracting people to do business with you.

Shelly,
Well put! I really got so much out of Perry's video as well. I posted it to a couple of the social networks as well! This subject is dear to my heart and I'm offering my input to my audience as well. Excellent message.
Warmly,

Shelly - Great details in this video about what social marketing is and the results you are trying to capture using it. I think some people get over whelmed looking at all the places you can connect too.
Not only do I love connecting in many places you start seeing faces you have seen and it becomes fun to see faces that are familiar or comfortable. Like so many of the renegades.

Good points, Shelley. I like your party.
Cheers!

Hi Shelly,
Great tips, as usual. I loved Perry's video's. It really makes sense of the whole social media. When put in the way of going to a party, well, who doesn't like a party. Besides, if you are like me, I don't like to actually go out to a party when it's super cold. (it's 0 degrees here today) This way, I go to a party in the warmth of my own house. I LOVE IT!!!
Happy Hoilday's Shelly to you and your family.

Hi Shelly,
You're right on the money with this one (as always :-) ). Social networking sites should be used as the name implies, social networking. The business will come in time when we're patient and if what we have to offer is right for the other person.
I recently had a new "friend" on Facebook hit me up for $100 for a new business venture in his very first email to me. Not exactly the way to win friends and influence people, huh? Maybe we should send him this video.
Keep up the great work. Everything I receive from you is a true gem. Happy Holidays!

Hi Shelly,
Great Video. I have watched Perry's video when Mike Dillard sent it on his newsletter. You have tied it nicely with examples which I can relate to.
Great education.
Thanks

Hi Shelly,
I love the party analogy that both you and Perry use; breaks it down very simply in a way that is easy to understand for everyone.
Continuing on with that theme, what role do you think is played by the people you come to the party with? For instance, I noticed that after I received an @Rob_Provenzano message on Twitter from Matt Bacak that my followers doubled in 24 hours. I also noticed after becoming friends with Perry, Matt Bacak, and Mike Dillard on facebook that I suddenly had 50+ friend requests. I'm curious as to the amount of "attraction" that is based on what you know and what you contribute to the party, versus who you know and what they contribute to the party.
I'd love to get your thoughts on this, and any strategies on converting the latter to the former.
Rob!!

Wonderful job as usual, Shelly. I thought of doing a "female response" as well, since he was so adamant that women are so different in conversation than men.
Never thought of myself as a party-animal-type, but I guess with social marketing I'd better get "out there"!
Thanks for your spin - I did love Perry Belcher's video. Makes so much sense - just wish I'd thought about it first!
Hi Shelly, Enjoyed your video, and laughed. I guess I am too shy about promoting myself, not wanting to be offensive. About the parties tho'. I am no longer a party gal, being 77 and a bit handicapped, crippled sorta so I do not get out to parties but I am certainly out on Facebook to lots of people even tho' I do not understand about the little green leaves, eggs etc. I just answer people and get to know more people. Now that I am home again I have to add to my blog spot and get myself better known. As well as the weight thing we have also become involved with the Kangen water thing and think it is great. Anything to help us be healthier and live longer. LOL If you are interested I could send you a free DVD. They were supposed to come before we left and we could have given some out but they were here, waiting, when we got back. Thanks for all your great tips and follow my blog spot next week when I have it updated.
Happy New Year. Joni
